I think the problem with saying, "adults take responsibility," is that Kanye et al. are not adults, but merely children who do adult things. He has no problem being a man-child, because he still gets purchasing power and attention.

Only when we take these things away will he learn that having a sense of etiquette and consequence is, indeed, important.

I do wish he had chosen another word, and thought the same thing when I heard it. Then I looked it up in the dictionary:

jackass |ˈjakˌas|
noun
1 a stupid person.
2 a male ass or donkey.

Since Mr. West is not a male ass or donkey, I guess that makes him a stupid person. As much as we might not like the sound of the word, it is nonetheless a dictionary word as well as the legitimate name of an animal frequently associated with bad behavior.

Obama recently called Kanye West a "jackass" during a recent interview. How is that good manners exactly? I stopped reading after the second paragraph.

Hi Kristin, and thanks for dropping by! We could all give a long list of excuses for things we do wrong, but when you’re an adult, it’s time to start taking personal responsibility. I completely agree with you. Good for you for insisting on manners in your home. Now that my three are adults, I can tell you they’ve seen the benefits, mostly in the form of getting jobs and opportunities. It’s funny how far a simple thank you note can take you, when no one else your age knows how to write one. That’s not why they do it, but it has been the proven result.

Hello from Ann Leary’s blog. Great site. Yes Kanye needs to grow up. To add to his apology that his actions were just a result of stress from the music biz and losing his mother two years ago was so tacky. Is he really sorry or just looking for excuses. It will take more that a vacation to teach him manners. My son was so disappointed in Mr. West’s actions. I feel manners are almost everything. We still send thank you notes and set the table correctly. You never know what will be the key to the slippery slope of becoming a barbarian. lol
